My Connection With Rillington
Hi there, local historians, curious minds, and lovers of all things Rillington and North Yorkshire! I’m Pam Smith, and I’ve been on a wonderful journey through time, dedicated to studying, researching and showcasing the history, secrets and stories of this quaint village nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds.
My fascination with Rillington began in 2004, a discovery spurred by my research work for clients that kept pulling me back to the village. The charm of this peaceful village, caressed by the River Derwent, stole my heart. The simplicity of life here, the whispering echoes of history and the warmth of its inhabitants are like nowhere else.
I’m not just your average armchair historian – armed with a Higher Certificate and Diploma in Genealogy from the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS), Canterbury, and an Advanced Diploma in Local History from the University of Oxford, my quest for knowledge knows no bounds. Currently, I’m diving deep into the world of heraldry at the IHGS.
